Kanchanaburi and River Kwai from Bangkok

Kanchanaburi is a provincial town full of lots of painful history back in the time of World War II when Japanese forces torture Allied prisoners and labours to build a railway to Myanmar. This nightmare was told in Pierre Boulle’s book and also was filmed in The Bridge Over the River Kwai and the 1957 movies. Today, everything has changed, yet there are still memorials and museums in this town where we can see the old track of the event in the war, and many roads in the town center are named after many countries that were involved in the conflict. But, the town itself is crowded and alive surrounded by fields planted with tapioca, cane, corn, and sugar along Mae Klong River. You can take a bicycle or motorbike trip around the town to experience the wonderful sights of many attractions and you can feel joyful among local people living by Mae Nham Kwae (the river) or floating on it. Make an unforgettable trip in Kanchanaburi, just 130 Km away from Bangkok. You can go by car or by train as the central street is just 10 mins walk from the train station.

River Kwai Bridge is one of historical memories of the 2nd world wars. Interesting man-made bridge, I can walk on the railroad tracks and see views of river and nature. Only thing I don't like here is the weather it's very hot for me.

The bridge over the River Kwai is very nice and interesting. I like taking photos and bicycle around the town. Kanchanaburi is well known for tourists ,but not like Pattaya, because it's rich in nature and culture.

The river is lovely with many terrific resorts around all great for groups and families. However, I didn't enjoy the heat so much but overall was fun tour for me.
