Doi Mae Salong and Doi Tung Tour

Chiang Rai’s mountaintop town of Mae Salong began life as a Yunnanese town; unsurprisingly, today, it feels like less of a typical Thai town and more as if it belongs in Southern China. Remnants of the Kuomintang (KMT) who fled Yunnan after defeat in the Chinese civil war by Mao Tse Tung’s communist forces founded the town in the early 1960s.

Things to know

Important Information

  • What To Bring : A light raincoat or poncho (during the rainy season of July, August, and September), Hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, swimsuit (if desired), camera, comfortable walking shoes such as sport shoes or hiking boots. Sandals are not recommended.

Transfer Service

  • Transfer service operates according to pre-assigned and route only. Please let us know your hotel name during your booking process. We will confirm you the pick up time by email.
  • Extra charge will be applied for transfer in some Chiang Rai area. (To be advised)

Remark

  • You cannot take photos inside the Doi Tung Royal Villa.
  • Itinerary may be subject to change or cancellation according to local weather conditions. In the event of bad weather, tours will be postponed until suitable conditions arise.
  • Please plan to meet your tour guide in your hotel lobby at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up time.
  • Please be aware that when you book with us, please use the same name that you use when you check- in at your hotel in order to avoid any misunderstanding when our tour staff comes to pick you up at your hotel lobby.
